Ramblin'
A downloadable game
Journeys are a huge part of our media landscape for a reason — being in a new place gives you a chance to stretch and change. You can flirt with people you might not normally flirt with, try on new names, personas, and pronouns, and see things you’ve never seen before. When you return home — if you return home — you can see your home, and yourself, with new eyes.
Maybe you’ll drive down a dirt road and see what unusual creatures you find, or come across a community that welcomes all travelers. Maybe you’ll take the wrong exit, or miss the right one, and end up in a completely unexpected place...or start a trip with someone who’s a stranger, and end with a new friend. The only way to know is to play the game and see what happens.
Ramblin’ is a game created for 3-5 players, who play a group of people embarking on a road trip together. It is:
- One-off, meaning it’s not meant to be played “campaign” style. Each game is its own self-contained story with new characters, and sessions can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on how many players you have and how you play it.
- DM-less, meaning everyone has an equal amount of control over the world and the story.
- No prep, so you don’t have to do anything ahead of time...you can just sit down, read the rules, make your character, and play.
- Rules-light and focused on storytelling, which means you’re given a loose structure created by randomness (dice rolls or a random number generator), and the rest of the details are left up to you and your friends, as you tell a story together.
It’s created this way so that you can lean into the “road trip as self-exploration” metaphor as much or as little as you want. This way, you can relive that family vacation, finally take that coming-of-age cross country road trip with your friends, or even travel as a bunch of elves in a wagon, if that's what tickles your fancy.
